Case Study
Marketplace-Scale Destination Indexation, Built to Compete with the Otas.
A consumer-facing vacation rental marketplace needed organic share against incumbents that outspend by 100x. We built a destination and property indexation system that compounds with every new listing.

01 / Challenge
A consumer-facing vacation rental marketplace with strong supply but weak organic share was paying paid-acquisition cost on every booking. The OTAs they were competing with had a decade of programmatic destination SEO built into their stacks. Without an organic moat, the unit economics didn't scale, every booking carried the same paid cost regardless of cumulative brand effort.
02 / Approach
We built a destination programmatic system from the geographic taxonomy up: country → region → state/province → city → neighborhood, each layer with templated but content-distinct pages. Property-level pages received schema, internal linking, and supply-signal optimization. A separate booking-funnel content layer ("things to do in...", "best time to visit...", "family-friendly stays in...") captured pre-decision intent and routed it back to inventory.

03 / Results
By month 12 the marketplace was indexing more than 10,000 destination and property pages with deep technical hygiene, monthly organic impressions had crossed three million, and the blended cost of an organically-acquired booking had dropped to a fraction of paid. The system is asset-leveraged, every new property listing generates additional indexable surface area without additional marketing cost.
- 10,400+ destination and property-level pages indexed with unique structured content
- +96% organic sessions YoY by month 12, with compounding gains continuing
- 3.1M monthly organic impressions at peak; sustained growth trajectory
- Blended booking-acquisition cost down 38% vs. paid-only baseline
- Indexation architecture scales automatically with listing inventory
“We stopped thinking of SEO as a marketing channel. It's now the substrate the marketplace runs on. Every new property makes the moat deeper.”VP Growth, Vacation Rental Marketplace
